Claire Barcik photo

Claire Barcik, Toronto, Ontario

Claire is excited to join the CDF team to support innovative housing, environmental and social solutions at a time when affordable housing, climate justice and building community connections and investments are foremost on the national agenda.
Claire trained as a lawyer and has spent nearly two decades in the non-profit and public sector, working alongside partners to build stronger, more diverse and more equitable communities. Claire was Executive Director of the CRC | Regent Park Community Food Centre, a vibrant multi-service agency with a focus on innovative approaches to food security, community development, urban agriculture and a unique community hub-housing model for formerly homeless tenants (Housing First). Previously, she was Executive Director at the Neighbourhood Centre in Toronto’s Crescent Town and Director of Community Services at Yonge Street Mission overseeing a suite of programs for at risk children and youth, computer literacy labs, a large, progressive food bank, and programs serving marginalized and street-involved adults, seniors and newcomer women and their families.
In these roles, Claire strengthened organizational capacity through impactful partnerships, community engagement, innovative program design, way too much fundraising and strategy and leadership development. After many years in the trenches, she holds immense respect for her not-for-profit colleagues across the country who bring astounding energy and creativity to moving the needle on critical social issues.
Claire holds an LL.B. from University of Ottawa and a Master’s in Theology and Social Justice from University of Toronto.
